2024 Inaugural Age Group Triathlete Swim Camp

Since 2015, Magnolia Masters has held a professional triathlete swim focused camp (Article). We recognized the need for professional triathletes to focus on the swim for selected blocks of time during the pre-season of racing. The camps were structured around how a national level swimmer would train – double workouts, higher volume and intensity of training, mental training, video stroke analysis, technique work and the strategies, skills and tactics of open water swimming.

This year we decided to bring all the experience gained from almost a decade of “Pro Camps” and offer that same experience and coaching to Age Group triathletes looking to make the next jump with their swim skills. The “Age Group Camp” will be designed with the age group triathlete and open water swimmer in mind. You will receive remote swim coaching in the lead up to the camp. We will discuss every swim workout in the weeks before to prepare you for the increase in volume and intensity during the camp. At the camp, there will be multiple one on one sessions in an endless pool to work on technique and analyze the swim stroke as well as analysis with the latest technology to quantify the swim stroke (SwimBetter Swim Sensors Video).

The camp will be 5 days long with multiple “double workouts” of practices in the morning and the afternoon. We will also do one on one work in the endless pool and a post camp video analysis of your sessions will be provided with a detailed analysis of your stroke and recommendations on drills and gear to help correct any issues. Each afternoon will include a 50 minute session of mindfulness with the “Focusband” wearable EEG and Tim Floyd will take you through a portion of the Easy Speed course and how this mental training can apply to endurance training and racing.
